Janesville Craig High School wrestlers posted three champions en route to a second place finish at the Racine Case Invitational on Saturday.

Craig earned 160 points, while Oregon scored 168 points for the title.

“I was very happy with the results considering we left three kids at home,” Craig coach Jeff Kaster said. “We kept pinning people and I thought we could have won it.’’

Siven Furseth (103), Jamie Kumlein (112) and Blair Kessler (171) each won championships. Furseth, a freshman, improved to 25-0, registering two pins en route to his fourth tournament title of the season.

Kumlein, a freshman, posted three pins in 1:32, 1:34 and pinned Waterford’s Brandon Fredricks in 20 seconds for the 112 title. Kumlein is 15-8 for the season.

“He’s only a freshman, but he really stepped it up today,” Kaster said. “He has been coming on and wrestling more like junior, not making those little freshman mistakes.’’

Kessler posted three pins, including Jordan Chambliss of Racine Case in 3:10 of the second period for the title. Kessler improves to 22-5 for the season.

Also for Craig, Trevor Gregoire, a senior, lost 5-3 in the 171 title bout. Travis Davis (119), Boyd Maske (285) and Alex Burdick (215) each placed third.

Craig will wrestle at Madison East this Friday.
