Craig relay teams take fifth at Middleton

Perennial state power Madison Memorial held off Madison West to win Cardinal Invitational swim relays Saturday at Middleton High School.

Memorial had 404 points, while West was second with 384. Janesville Craig finished 10th in the 14-team field with 210.

Craig’s best finish was fifth in the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 backstroke relay.

“This is a new meet for us,” Craig coach Jeremy Meserole said. “It gave gave us an opportunity to focus more on how we swim events instead of worrying about times.

“With Memorial and West in the field, it’s obviously a very strong invite.”
