Badger, Williams Bay, Lakeside boys stay on top

Lake Geneva Badger is halfway home in its battle to win the final Lakeshore boys basketball championship.


Badger High hammered Westosha Central, 52-37, Thursday night at Salem to complete the first half of the conference season with a 6-0 record and one-game lead over Racine St. Catherine’s.


Braden Tice, Jimmy Merrit and Zach Adams each hit three-point goals as the Badgers buried Central in a 14-1 first quarter. The Falcons’ only point came on Michael Erdman’s free throw.


Merrit scored 16 points as Badger went to 9-2 for the season. Erman led Central (4-5, 2-4) with 14.

Trailways South


Williams Bay 71, Abundant Life 47—Defending champion Williams Bay (8-1, 7-0) stayed atop the Trailways South with a decisive victory over Madison Abundant Life (2-7, 1-7).


The Bulldogs had a 34-16 halftime lead. Andrew Martin scored eight of his 10 points in the first quarter, and Jack Slovick scored all 14 of his points in the second quarter.


Damien Brellenthin had an 11-point game for Williams Bay. Ben Miller had seven assists, and Martin collected eight rebounds.

Lakeside 69, Luther Prep 60—Nate Bauer hit 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to help Lakeside Lutheran (8-2, 4-0) hold off visiting Watertown Luther Prep and maintain its Capiutol North lead.


Bauer, who was shooting 50 percent from the line for the season, finished 16 of 23 en route to a 31-point performance.


Scott Henrich led Luther Prep (5-2, 2-2) with 14 points.
