— Thirty to 40 people evacuated the Hedberg Public Library in downtown Janesville at 10:50 Monday after an automatic fire alarm sounded.

Firefighters found no flames or smoke. Their initial theory is that a roof leak caused an electrical short, triggering the alarm and subsequent evacuation.

No one was injured, and library employees said no one balked at leaving the building. Evacuees stood outside the building in an occasional light rain but in unseasonably high temperatures near 54 degrees.

Library employees and patrons re-entered the building at 11:11 a.m.
