Matt McElroy had another hot night for Evansville High’s boys basketball team.


The 5-11 senior guard scored 20 of his 26 points in the middle two quarters to lead the Blue Devils past visiting Brodhead, 56-35, for their third straight Rock Valley Conference victory.


Evansville’s two-time defending champions improved to 3-2 in the conference and 5-3 overall. Brodhead fell to 1-4 and 4-5.


Andrew Keister added 10 points for Evansville. Micah Wallace led Brodhead with 12 points, including three three-pointers.

Big Foot 46, Palmyra-Eagle 39—Big Foot used seven three-point goals and big fourth quarter to rally for a Rock Valley victory over the Panthers at Walworth.


Jon Thies got two of his four three-pointers in the final period, and T.J Schaid scored all five of his points to spark the Chiefs’ 18-9 advantage in the last eight minutes.


Thies finished with 13 points, and teammate Nathan Nagel added 10 as Big Foot broke a six-game losing streak to go 2-3 in the Rock Valley and 3-6 overall.


Kyle Beaumont had 10 points for Palmyra-Eagle (1-8, 0-5).

Logan Krebs scored 15 points to lead Clinton’s four double-figure scorers. Grant Oldenburg had 13, while Keifer Cary and Austin DeLong added 10 apiece.


Jaron Bertelsen had 17 points for Turner, followed by Reggie Cassimere with 10.
