Parkview rallies for victory

Orfordville Parkview High School’s girls basketball team battled back in championship style Tuesday night.


The Vikings, who shared the Rock Valley title with Brodhead, overcame a four-deficit in the fourth quarter to gain a 52-50 victory over New Glarus in a WIAA Division 3 regional opener.


Third-seeded Parkview (17-4) plays at second-seeded Mineral Point (18-2) in Thursday night’s regional semifinals. The winner battles Cuba City (21-0) or Belleville (14-6) on Saturday at Monroe for a berth in the Reedsburg Sectional.


Jenna Larsen’s basket with 1:01 remaining gave Parkview a 52-48 lead, but New Glarus cut it to two on a basket by Shanna Karls.


New Glarus (11-9) had a chance to tie or take the lead late, but Larsen intercepted a pass with eight seconds left to clinch the victory. Parkview made eight free throws in the fourth quarter and finished with 17 for the game.


Larsen paced the Vikings with 18 points. Karls and Dani Pickett led New Glarus with 12 points each.

Cuba City 101, Turner 42—Cuba City’s top-ranked three-time defending state champions left no doubts by dropping a 32-3 first quarter on Beloit Turner (1-19) in a Division 3 regional opener.


Fourteen players scored as the Cubans (21-0) notched their 72nd straight win.


Cuba City hosts Belleville (15-6) in Thursday night regional semifinals.

West Bend Sectional


Marshall 47, Clinton 37—Marshall held the host Cougars to 11 points in the second half to rally for a Division 3 regional quarterfinal victory.


Clinton (7-14) led 26-19 at halftime, but the Cougars got only two field goals the rest of the game.


Tai Hansen led Marshall with 17 points. Liz Althoff had 13 for Clinton.


Marshall (9-12) plays at top-seeded Cambridge (14-7) in Thursday’s regional semifinals. That pairs into the West Bend Sectional.

Kelly Bolli led Palmyra-Eagle (1-20) with 10 points, while Kayla Smithback had 18 to lead Cambridge.


Cambridge (13-7), the Capitol North co-champion, hosts Marshall (9-12) in Thursday’s regional semifinals.
