Tip-off time is here for WIAA girls basketball tournament play.


Competition in all four enrollment divisions begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the regional level. Regional semifinals in Divisions 2, 3 and 4 are Thursday, and all regional finals are Saturday.


Sectionals, which determine state qualifiers, are spread between Thursday and Saturday, March 6-8. The state tournament is March 13-15 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.


These are the prospects for the 20 sectionals leading to the state tournament, which again will have eight teams in Division 1, four each in Divisions 2, 3, 4:


Division 1


WILMOT SECTIONAL


2007 champion: Milton (def. Waterford, 61-49, in sectional final).


Milton lost to Merrill, 54-43, in state quarterfinals.


2008 AP rated teams: Janesville Parker (18-2), Kenosha Tremper (18-2), tied for No. 4.

Agenda: This sectional champion plays the UW-Green Bay champion in the fourth Division 1 state quarterfinal game at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, March 13.


Notable: Parker, led by Catie O’Leary’s 19.6 Big Eight scoring average, is looking to extend its state record of 12 trips to the state tournament. The Vikings had qualified three straight years and seven of the last eight before being upset by Waterford, 57-54 in overtime, in the sectional semifinals last season … Parker has just tied for its fourth straight Big Eight championship, eighth in nine years and 15th in 19 years under coach Tom Klawitter. The Vikings’ only losses were to Middleton, the other Big Eight co-champion, 52-41, and 35-32 Mercyhurst of Erie, Pa., in the championship game of the Surf ‘N’ Slam Classic at San Diego.


Janesville Craig has won 10 of its last 13 games and took Parker into overtime before losing 56-51 on Jan. 29 at Parker … The Cougars and Vikings could have a rematch in the sectional semifinals … Kenosha Tremper has played its last four games without star guard Lindsey Sebetic, who was averaging 16.1 points and frequently scoring more than that before a season-ending knee injury … Milton is on a seven-game winning streak, including three victories in the last week of the regular season. The seventh-seeded Red Hawks (13-6) begin their postseason bid at home against Beloit Memorial (8-11).


UW-GREEN BAY SECTIONAL


2007 champion: Antigo (def. Ashwaubenon, 47-46, in sectional final).


Antigo lost to eventual champion Milwaukee Vincent, 45-21, in state quarterfinals.


2008 AP rated teams: Kimberly (20-0), No. 1; De Pere (18-2), No. 8.

Notable: Top-ranked Kimberly has been to the state tournament nine times and won four titles—one in Division 1 and three in Division 2. The most recent was Division 2 in 1998 … Antigo, the defending sectional champion, has moved to the Eau Claire North Sectional.


BARABOO SECTIONAL


Defending champion: La Crosse Logan (def. Madison West, 62-39, in sectional final).

Notable: An area highlight could be a regional final rematch between the Southern Lakes’ top two teams, Delavan-Darien and Whitewater, Saturday night at Kettle Moraine. The Whippets handed Delavan-Darien its only loss, 51-50, but the Comets got revenge last Friday with a 48-44, come-from-behind victory that gave them the undisputed conference title .. With Columbus in 2002 and 2003, Jefferson in 2005 and Monroe in 2006, this sectional has produced four of the last six Division 1 state champions.
