Clinton High didn’t go quietly, but Orfordville Parkview had the last hurrah in its battle for a Rock Valley girls basketball championship.

The Vikings had only only three field goals in the second half Friday night, but they remained tough down the stretch and emerged with a 40-37 victory at Clinton that gave them a share of the title.

Maggie Schultz had seven blocked shots in the game and helped Clinton pull within 31-29 by the end of the third quarter. Parkview led by one midway through the final period, then stretched it seven and was up by five when Kara Risseeuw scored for Clinton at the buzzer.

In the pivotal fourth quarter, Parkview made five of 11 free throws and added two field goals, which was enough to hold off the Cougars.
