Authorities identify man killed in crash
Pablo Damian-Linares, 24, of Janesville was westbound on Highway 59 when his Chevrolet Cavalier drifted to the right shoulder of the road. Damian-Linares over-corrected, slid sideways about 200 feet across the icy road, entered the south ditch and turned his vehicle over on its side. The car then slid about 94 feet and collided with a utility pole, which it broke in half.
Milton Fire Department personnel attempted extrication. Med Flight personnel assisted but found no signs of life. At 11:27 p.m., Rock County Chief Deputy Coroner Chris Hawley pronounced the Damian-Linares dead at the scene.
Damian-Linares was wearing a seat belt. Authorities said unreasonable speed and icy road conditions contributed to the accident.
