Warhawk women regard undisputed lead

WHITEWATER


UW-Whitewater hammered UW-Platteville, 94-64, in women’s basketball Wednesday night and was rewarded with sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.


While the third-ranked Warhawks (20-1, 12-1) were cruising past the Pioneers, UW-Stevens Point handed UW-Eau Claire a 57-43 defeat to drop the Blugolds (18-5, 12-2) from the conference lead.


Whitewater rolled to a 41-18 first-half advantage, and Platteville (10-12, 4-9) never threatened.


Sophomore guard Kelsey Hendrickson led the Warhawks with 24 points. Tiffany Mortonson scored 16 points, Megan Schmidt added 15, and Heidi Sonntag had 11.


The Warhawks travel to Stevens Point (18-4, 9-4) on Saturday.
