Whitewater High’s boys basketball team saved its best for last Monday night.


Tony Bilderback’s three-point goal with 20 seconds left gave the Whippets their first lead since the first quarter, and they held on for a 51-48 victory in a Southern Lakes Conference game at Jefferson.


Bilderback’s basket put Whitewater up 49-48. Jefferson turned the ball over with five seconds left, and Steve Marton’s ensuing free throws sealed the Whippets’ victory after the Eagles had led by 14 points in the fourth quarter.


Miles Hookstead led Whitewater (4-6, 10-8) with 25 points, including 13 in the third quarter. Hookstead and Bilderback scored six and five, respectively, to spark the Whippets’ 20-5 advantage in the final period.


Tony Probst paced Jefferson (3-15, 0-11) with 12 points.

East Troy 65, Badger 53—Lake Geneva Badger had 9-5 advantage in three-point goals, but East Troy won the nonconference battle of champions.


The host Trojans (17-2), who have won a second straight Southern Lakes title, rode a 38-23 advantage in the second half to victory over the Lakeshore champions (14-4).


East Troy overcame a 30-27 halftime deficit in a 17-8 third quarter and secured the win by making 14 of 17 free throws in the game.


Alex Bondar and Allan Loth led East Troy with 21 and 19 points, respectively, while Braden Tice scored 23 for Badger, including six three-point goals.

Elkhorn 56, Oregon 50—The Elks (14-4) survived the Panthers’ fourth-quarter surge for a nonconference victory.


Oregon (2-17) cut a 10-point deficit after three quarters to 45-44 with four minutes remaining, but Max Findreng stepped up with a four-point play to give Elkhorn a 49-44 lead.


Findreng finished with 15 points. Skyler O’Laughlin scored 12, and Eric Bryson added 10 for Elkhorn.


Oregon’s Skyler Debilzen had 17 points.

Fort Atkinson 57, Beaver Dam 45—The Blackhawks (7-10) began their marathon week with a nonconference win at Beaver Dam.


Josh Meyerhofer and Dan Malison scored eight and seven points, respectively, for Fort Atkinson in a 21-9 fourth quarter that produced a victory in the Blackawks’ first of four games in five days.


Meyerhofer finished with 15 points, while Malison had 14 and Ryan Hitt added 13. Sophomore guard Tal Diekvoss had 16 for winless Beaver Dam (0-19).
