Warhawks rout Stout

— UW-Stout is glad to be done with the Matt Goodwin and Kevin Koski portion of its men’s basketball schedule.

Goodwin and Koski notched career highs in points and asissts, respectively, as fourth ranked UW-Whitewater blew past Stout, 83-61, here Saturday at Johnson Fieldhouse.


Whitewater (18-3, 10-2) moved into a first-place tie with UW-Platteville. The Warhawks play at Platteville on Wednesday night.


Goodwin scored a career-high 33 points while hitting 12 of 18 field-goal attempts. That included 8 of 13 from beyond the arc, which ranks sixth in the Whitewater record book for three-pointers made in a game.


Goodwin’s previous high in career scoring was 29 points against Stout earlier this season.


Kori Vernon, a junior forward out of Madison Memorial High School, added 22 points. He also finished with a game-high seven rebounds.


Koski, Whitewater’s sophomore point guard out of Jefferson, dished to Goodwin and Vernon for 10 assists, tying a career high.


Stout (4-17, 1-11) was led by freshman forward Eric Hostetter’s 13 points, with senior guard Miles Webb adding 10.
