— Mary Gorniak, the owner of the former Spankys, 18-24 S. River St., has relinquished her alcohol license.

Late last summer, Police Chief Neil Mahan recommended that Gorniak’s liquor license be suspended for 30 days because of numerous police calls to the downtown business since it opened in March.

The Alcohol License Advisory Committee went a step farther and recommended to the council in September that the license be revoked.

But Spankys closed on its own in mid-September, with police reporting that the power was shut off.

Deputy Chief of Police Steve Kopp said in a memo to the ALAC that Gorniak relinquished her license last month prior to Mahan preparing charges for a revocation hearing before the council.
