Two wins in two nights has Brodhead High School atop the tight Rock Valley girls basketball race.


The Cardinals (9-4, 9-1) followed up Thursday’s triumph over Clinton with a 43-29 victory Friday night at Evansville to maintain their half-game edge over Orfordville Parkview.


Brodhead held Evansville (3-6, 4-10) to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters to dominate the defending champions. The Cardinals led 24-17 at halftime, then started the second half with an 8-0 run and were up 39-21 after three quarters.


Kristen Ruchti led Brodheadf with 13 points. Hailey McIntyre had a game-high 15 for the Blue Devils.

Parkview 65, Edgerton 50—Orfordville Parkview (8-1) turned back upset-minded Edgerton with a fourth-quarter rally and remained one game behind league-leading Brodhead in the Rock Valley.


The Crimson Tide (3-12) took a 20-10 advantage in the third quarter to take a 43-42 lead.


Parkview bounced back in the fourth quarter with a 23-7 advantage to for the final outcome.


Stephanie Aasen scored eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter to help pull the Vikings away. Katie Danielson added five of her seven points.


Parkview’s Tiffany Draeving had 16 points for scoring honors. Edgerton’s Fawn Bingham scored 12 points and Meggie Schmidt added 11 points.

Big Foot 71, Palmyra-Eagle 30—Jenny Pietkaukis scored 12 of her 15 points in the third quarter as the Chiefs (11-5, 7-2) gained a 27-7 advantage for a 54-19 lead en route to a Rock Valley victory over the Panthers (1-14, 1-8).


Big Foot’s Jordyn Courier scored 13 of her 19 points in the first half. Palmyra-Eagles Stephanie McGivern and Jessica Steltz each scored 10 points.
