Beloit women win; men stumble

— Beloit College women continued to roll, pounding Ripon College, 61-43, in Midwest Conference basketball Saturday.

The visiting Buccaneers (12-5, 8-2) held a 26-19 halftime lead and gained a 35-24 advantage in the second half to seal the victory.


Katie McCool had scoring honors with 22 points. Christine Brown added 10 points and Janesville Parker graduate Angie Meehan scored nine points on 3 of 13 shooting from the field.


Emily Meyer scored 17 points for Ripon (4-13, 1-9).


Beloit remains in a tie for second place with Carroll and trails St. Norbert College by one game.

Beloit’s Andy Horton, an Orfordville Parkview graduate, posted 30 points to take scoring honors. Tyler Isam, a Walworth Big Foot graduate, added 16 points. Cody Bysted, a Janesville Parker graduate, scored eight points for Beloit.
