— Town of Beloit police arrested a woman this morning after her boyfriend was flown to a hospital with a life-threatening stab wound.

Police were called to the home of Tanya Y. Greer, 24, of 1938 Harrison Ave., Beloit Township, at 2:48 a.m. for a man bleeding from the neck, Sgt. David Dransfield said. There, they found Greer's boyfriend, James Holzbauer, 29, Beloit, suffering from a stab wound inflicted by "a very large kitchen knife," Dransfield said.

Police originally thought the wound was self-inflicted, but they later arrested Greer on initial charges of causing reckless injury, Dransfield said.

"She made some incriminating statements, which led to her arrest," he said.

The incident started as a verbal argument, and Holzbauer and Greer were under the influence of alcohol, Dransfield said.

Greer's children, a boy and a girl ages 8 and 9, were in the home at the time, Dransfield said.

Holzbauer was originally taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital and flown by helicopter to another hospital, though Dransfield said he didn't know which one.

Sorry I misread the article and for some reason thought they were his children. My bad!

Alcohol causes "some" people to be violent! In this case I know both people and alcohol is a bad idea with them! The children are not his by birth. He has been helping the mother care for them for many years. The children are staying with family and were sleeping when it happened.

What provokes people to be so violent? I don't get it!

My heart goes out to the victim. Hopefully there is a shelter for him to go to, assuming he survives the assault.

It doesn't matter if he was the father of those kids or not. They were still in the house at the time of the incident..

More like alcohol ABUSE raises its ugly head again. Let's blame the knife, not the person.

If she did this and is convicted, maybe she will get the "workender" program because it cost too much to put people in jail!

I don't think the boyfriend is the father of the children as it states GREER'S children

So where are the kids now? I hope they weren't awake to see their dad like that. That has to be horrifying.
