— Lake Superior State’s Zac MacVoy and No. 14 Wisconsin’s John Mitchell traded goals in the final four minutes as the teams skated to a 1-1 tie in the championship game of the Badger Hockey Showcase.

The game goes on each team’s record as a tie, but the Badgers won the shootout to decide which team won the championship. Tom Gorowsky, the first shooter, scored the only goal.

MacVoy chipped in a loose puck after a shot wide of the net deflected off Wisconsin defenseman Brendan Smith’s glove and into the crease. That goal, with 3:36 remaining, broke a scoreless tie.

But Mitchell put a shot between Lake Superior State goaltender Pat Inglis’ pads to tie the game with 1:42 remaining.

A six-game winning streak turned into a seven-game unbeaten streak for Wisconsin (10-7-3). Lake Superior State (5-8-7) earned its third tie in its last six games.
