The Rock County Sheriff's Office is preparing for Thursday's impending winter storm with its Winter Emergency Plan.
The plan has three phases. Level Three is in effect now, and includes planning and directing personnel for the anticipated increase in law enforcement calls. Authorities will monitor road conditions and weather forecasts, and could declare a Level One response. That includes snowmobiles, four-wheel drive vehicles and partnerships with local snow clubs, National Guard, Red Cross and Emergency Management.
The Sheriff's Office warns motorists to balance the need for travel with personal safety.
