UW-Rock men score victory

JANESVILLE — UW-Rock County jumped to an eight-point lead in overtime and hung on to defeat visiting UW-Marinette, 90-87, in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference men’s basketball here Friday night.

Fred Steward scored six of his 27 points in the overtime and Mario Selph added five of his game-high 28 to spark the Rattlers. Selph sunk a three-point basket with three seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Matt Hilt added 13 points and Prince Miller added 10 points for UW-Rock (8-4, 4-1).

UW-Rock will host UW-Marathon today at 3 p.m.

UW-Rock women fall

UW-Rock County made just nine of 24 free throws en route to a 51-35 loss to visiting UW-Marinette in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference women’s basketball here Friday.

Kaylyn Sherrod scored 22 points and teammate Kelsey Kersten added 11 for the Rattlers.

UW-Rock (5-4, 5-2 WCC) will host UW-Marathon today at 1 p.m.
