UW-Rock County swept by MATC

Madison Area Technical College swept UW-Rock County in nonconference men’s and women’s basketball here Wednesday.

The UW-Rock men lost, 130-104, and the women lost, 76-39.

In the men’s game, the teams combined for 26 three-point goals, 78 free-throw attempts and 54 fouls.

The Rattlers made 38 of 51 free throws, 12 three-point goals and committed 22 fouls. MATC made 22 of 27 free throws, 14 three-point goals and committed 32 fouls.

The Rattlers trailed 68-59 at the half. UW-Rock fell to 7-4 overall.

Cory Kramer, a Beloit Memorial High School grad, scored a team-high 24 points, including six three-point goals for the Rattlers. Matt Hilt, a Janesville Parker grad, scored 22 points, Mario Selph scored 18 points and Prince Miller from Parker chipped in 12 points for UW-Rock.

Chris Davis scored a game-high 26 points for MATC.

In the women’s game, UW-Rock trailed 40-23 at the half and never gained momentum.

Kaylyn Sherrod and Kelsey Kersten scored 10 points apiece for UW-Rock. The Rattlers fell to 4-4 overall.

UW-Rock women will host UW-Marinette this Friday at 5 p.m., and the men will play Marinette at 7 p.m. The Rattlers will host UW-Marathon on Saturday at 5 and 7 p.m.
