— The list of clients being served by Janesville's ECHO and Beloit's Caritas food pantries are growing as the economy worsens.

Yolanda Peer is Assistant Director at Caritas and says they're seeing families who have donated food in the past come in as clients. Office Manager at ECHO in Janesville, Jessica Schafer, says they've hit the limit of who they can serve and are turning some away.

Businesses, civic and church groups, and individuals are helping keep both ECHO and Caritas open. Peer says Beloit College students recently donated $1,000 to Caritas, while Schafer says Parker and Craig students collected 1,099 lbs of food and $2,600 for ECHO.

Schafer says ECHO still needs help with their Christmas toy program.
