Janesville police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

Lieutenant Tim Hiers says officers were called to a single family home on North Washington Street at 9:05 Saturday morning. Hiers says their preliminary investigation indicates 38-year-old Shukrije Menxhiqi was shot multiple times, and 54-year-old Rexhep Menxhiqi died of a single gun shot wound. Four of the couples five children were home at the time and the eldest daughter may have attempted to intervene. None of the children, age six to 18 were injured. Neighbors say the couple seemed well adjusted and the family happy. Police had no record of any domestic problems.

An autopsy is planned Sunday.
