WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the population estimates for Janesville and Beloit

RSS

— The State Department of Administration is out with their annual report on estimated population growth for cities in Wisconsin.

Assistant Beloit City Manager, Steve Gregg, says the latest figures puts Beloit's population at 37,110. Gregg says Beloit has seen moderate growth of 3.7% since 2000, and they're happy with that.

In Janesville, the number is higher. Manager of Planning and Services for Janesville, Duane Cherek, says growth is 5.5%, which represents an estimated population of 63,540. That is also considered "moderate growth", according to Cherek, and right where Janesville wants to be.
