The City and School District of Janesville are working together to design an accessibility ramp at Monterey Stadium.

City Engineer Jack Messer says he's reviewed the plans and ensure they meet ADA requirements and the quality of construction that would go along with a city-owned facility. The school district leases the stadium from the city. School district Director of Business Services Doug Bunton says by putting the ramp on the south half of the stadium, it would allow students to sit with students. Toward the middle of the stadium, adults could sit with other adults. Currently those in wheelchairs sit on the track in front of the other fans. Construction of the ramp is underway, and the ramp should be complete later in the football season. Bunton says the construction won't interfere with the football games.

The school district is asking the city for $37,500, which is half the cost of the project. The City Council considers the request Monday.
