A rural Beloit man is in custody after reportedly throwing a large stone at the glass doors and windows of the Sheriff's Office lobby.

Sheriff's officials say officers arrived in the lobby to find 51-year-old Jeffrey M. Hansen giving himself up. He offered his wrists to the officers and admitted to causing damage to the glass, telling officers to handcuff and arrest him. Hansen told officers he wanted to see if the glass was bullet proof. A group of about ten people from a jail tour was in the lobby at the time of the incident. Deputies arrested Hansen on charges of recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. The deputies investigated the damage and found the class panes were chipped.

Hansen's initial court appearance is Monday.
