Craig golfers win two in Big Eight double dual

— Janesville Craig High School’s girls golf team rolled past Madison Memorial and Madison La Follette to open the Big Eight Conference season Wednesday at Hawks Landing.

Craig shot a 390, while Memorial hit 416 and La Follette followed with 418.

The Cougars’ Kyleigh Fenton fired a 47-44—91 for medalist honors. Lindsay Beals carded a 47-48—95 for Craig, followed by teammates Sarah Sheldon at 48-4—96 and Katie Decker at 51-47—108.

“Hawks Landing is a nice, tough course,” Craig coach Mike Wesling said. “The girls played very well and had their best score of the season.”

The Cougars play in the Milton Best Ball Tournament at Oak Ridge today.

Parker splits—Janesville Parker had its Big Eight dual meet undefeated string snapped Wednesday at Krueger-Haskell in Beloit.

Madison East posted a 358 to Parker’s 372 in a conference season-opening double dual. Beloit Memorial fielded an incomplete score, playing just two golfers.

“I’ll take the blame,” said Parker coach John Zimmerman, whose team went 8-0 in winning the championship last season. “I didn’t have the team ready to to play.’’

Parker’s Molly Rozeboom fired an 46-39—85, and teammate Katie Brossard followed with an 43-44—87. Amanda Becker shot 47-49—96, and Jennifer Polglaze finished with a 53-51—104.

The Vikings play in the Milton Best Ball Tournament today at Oak Ridge.
