Snappers break loose at Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Beloit Snappers busted out of a four-game losing streak in a big way with an 11-1 victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in Midwest League baseball here Tuesday.

The visiting Snappers jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and closed the game with four runs in the ninth inning.

Beloit pounded out 15 hits, reaching the Kernels starter Trevor Reckling (9-6) for six runs on 11 hits through the first five innings.

Snappers starter Steve Hirschfield (10-4) allowed one run on three hits through seven innings to gain the victory.
