Smokes sting comes up empty

WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the latest efforts to eliminate the sale of tobacco products to minors
Recent attempts to get retailers to sell smokes to underage buyers came up empty in Janesville.
The WI Wins Program and the Rock County Youth2Youth report that none of the 31 retailers visited would sell tobacco products to minors.
The organizations report that in 2001, 35 percent of Wisconsin businesses sold to underage youths, while only 5 percent did so in 2006.
"All retails clerks can and should do the right thing for Wisconsin by refusing to sell to minors, and we are proud of the Janesville retailers who are doing just that," the organizations said in their news release.
More checks of local retailers will be done in the future, the organizations said.
Training is available for Wisconsin retailers. For information, go to www.wisconsinwins.com or call Rock County Youth2Youth at (608) 365-1244.

No, it doesn't stop a child from getting their hands on cigarettes or liquor but if all adults did their job it would certainly slow it down...
As far a LOW PAID clerks speak for yourself, I am one of those clerks and I make enough money to support my own family and pay my own taxes and not depend on your stinking government funds and I am also very, very proud to hear that their are young people out there that care enough to snitch on the people that are breaking the law.
...And I bet you are one of those people that get highly offened when you are carded for cigs or liquor when all the cashier is doing is their JOB!!! I don't care how offened you may get I am STILL going to card you so put that in your pipe smoke it...
