Clerk's shouts disrupt robbery attempt
JANESVILLE A man wearing a dark-colored nylon stocking over his face attempted to rob the Stop-N-Go store on Center Avenue early this morning but left empty handed.
Janesville police were called to the southside convenience store, 714 Center Ave., at 2:22 a.m. today.
The female clerk told police a 5-foot-5-inch stocky built man entered the store shouting demands for money and yelling for the clerk to come out from where she was working in the store. But the clerk told police she was able to run outside and yell for help, which caused the suspect to flee.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, who also was wearing a maroon-colored sweatshirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
