— A Walworth County sheriff's deputy is injured after a drunk driver hit his squad almost head on.

In a news release, sheriff's Capt. Scott McClory says a cell phone user called 911 to report a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lane on Highway 12 near Lake Geneva about 3:20 Monday morning.

At the same time, Deputy Richard Johnson was east on Highway 12 and not aware of the car. When he came upon it, Johnson turned on his emergency lights and tried to avoid him, but the vehicles hit head on, off center.

Deputies arrested the car's driver of the other car, a 28-year-old man from Lake Geneva.

McClory says Johnson was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for back and neck pain and later released.
