Ten local fire departments assist with Beloit house fire
Ten local fire departments provided help for a Beloit house fire.
Beloit fire officials say firefighters found heavy smoke and flames in the front room of the home in the 500 block of Euclid Avenue Monday afternoon. It was quickly extinguished. No one was home at the time of the fire, in the main house or the rear apartment. Damage is estimated at $27,000. The family has renters insurance.
Firefighters did rescue two animals. A dog was brought out of the rear apartment and a baby squirrel was found in the smoke-filled garage. Firefighters brought the squirrel into the ambulance to provide it with oxygen.
It was handed over to the Rock County Humane Society for further care.
