High school teams ready to get going
It almost is, at least, for those planning to participate in high school fall sports.
Reporting dates for four Janesville sports are next week. Three other sports start Monday, Aug. 18.
Craig's athletic code meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at Marshall Middle School, and Parker's is the same time at Franklin Middle School. Freshmen and others who did not attend a code meeting during the 2007-08 school year must attend and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Physical exam or alternate-year cards must be on file with the school's athletic department before an athlete is permitted to practice.
Practice information for the sports at each school:
Reporting dates—Equipment will be issued and fitness testing will be conducted Monday.
Tests are at 9 a.m., seniors; 10 a.m., juniors; 11 a.m., sophomores. Equipment issue is at 1 p.m., seniors; 2 p.m., juniors; 3 p.m., sophomores; 4 p.m., freshmen.
First practice for sophomores, juniors and seniors is 7:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday. First freshman practice is 9-11 a.m. Wednesday. Varsity and junior varsity will practice in the bowl behind the school; freshmen and sophomores will be on the practice field north of the building.
Players should wear shorts and T-shirt the first three days. After that, pads are required.

First game—Friday, Aug. 29, Sun Prairie, Monterey Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
Reporting date—First practice at all levels is 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 18, on the soccer field south of the building.
Players will meet at the Greenhouse on the south side of the building. They should wear soccer shoes, socks, shin pads, white T-shirt and shorts.

First games—Friday, Aug, 29, Alumni game, home, 6 p.m.; Thursday, Sept. 4, Sun Prairie, home, 7 p.m.
Reporting date—First practice for freshmen, junior varsity and varsity is 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Marshall Middle School pool.

Reporting dates—A meeting of players and parents is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, at the Craig tennis courts. First practice is 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Craig courts.
Players should wear shorts and T-shirt.

Reporting date—Players at all levels should report to Room 5 at Craig for a 9-11 a.m. session on Monday. Equipment will be issued at that time.

Reporting date—First practice at all boys and girls levels is 8-10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18. Runners will meet in the upper pavilion at Palmer Park.
Candidates are encouraged to bring water. They should wear running shoes and clothes suitable for the weather.

Varsity and sophomore practice begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, on the Parker practice fields. Freshman practice begins at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, also on the Parker practice fields.
Players should be report dressed for practice—shorts, T-shirt and football shoes.
The family kickoff picnic for players and parents is noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Franklin Middle School.

Tryouts will last 3-5 days at all levels, depending on the number of participants.
Players should wear shorts, T-shirt, kneepads and appropriate gym shoes.

Reporting date—First practice at all levels is 9 a.m.-noon Monday, at Riverside Golf Course. The practice and meet schedule will be distributed the first day.
