Woman injured in hit-and-run crash

BRODHEAD — A Brodhead woman was is serious condition this morning at University Hospital, Madison, after a truck that fled the accident scene Wednesday night hit the backend of her car.

Jo Ann K. Arn, 54, of rural Brodhead, was driving her 2003 Nissan 350z Coupe east on County OK and approaching County F in Decatur Township at 5:45 p.m., when an eastbound Dodge Ram truck hit her car. Rear-end damage to the car was so extensive that the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

A short time later, investigators found a 1994 Dodge Ram truck with major front-end damage outside a rural Brodhead home and towed it away.

The truck’s driver, Jason L. Elsner, 26, of rural Brodhead, was arrested on charges of hit and run causing great bodily injury and causing great bodily harm by intoxicated operation of a vehicle.

Also arrested was Michael T. Vogel, 21, of rural Albany, who was arrested on charges of hit and run causing great bodily injury.

Arn was wearing a seatbelt, according to a Green County Sheriff’s Department news release.
