— A 13-year-old boy who died Monday after getting hit by a car while riding his bike will be remembered as a quiet teenager who loved video games and the trombone.

Troy Kozbiel died at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, his grandmother Maryann Kozbiel said.

“He was just a good kid,” she said. “He played in the band.”

The collision occurred at Greenview and Park roads at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Walworth County Sheriff David Graves said.

Greenview and Park is an uncontrolled intersection.

The driver of the car has not been charged with a crime, District Attorney Phil Koss said, and the incident remains under investigation.

Troy had severe chest and head injuries after the crash, his grandmother said.

He was taken to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn and then transported to Children’s Hospital, where he died Monday morning, Maryann said.

Troy was baptized at the hospital before his death, she said, and his organs were donated to save others.

Troy attended school in Lake Geneva, Maryann said, and he enjoyed fishing and carpentry.

“He did a lot of things with his dad,” she said.

Deanna Kozbiel, Troy’s aunt, said her nephew had a lot to offer the world.

“He was just a great little person,” she said. “He was just very loving, just very loving to all children and adults.”

Troy enjoyed working on inventions, she said. He also liked all-terrain vehicles and household projects.

“There was not much in life he didn’t like,” she said. “He was just an amazing guy.”

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Bloomfield Township Police Department with investigating the crash, Graves said.

Bloomfield police refused to comment on the incident.
