Three Beloit fires Sunday could have been prevented
Beloit Fire officials blame the careless use of flammable materials for three fires Sunday.
The first fire occurred just before 10 AM. A four-and-a-half year old child was playing with matches or a lighter and caused $35,000 worth of damage. The second fire was called in just as the first fire was under control. The second fire was also caused by a child playing with matches or a lighter. Damage there is estimated at $25,000. A third fire was discovered when firefighters responded to a call of a person who needed help getting up off the floor. That person was trying to get away from a fire at the kitchen table caused by careless smoking when she fell and could not get up.
No injuries resulted from any of the fires.
