— Rockvale mobile home park will host the Janesville area National Night Out for the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

The event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the new Rockvale clubhouse, 6219 S. Highway 51 near Blackhawk Technical College.

Individuals and families are encouraged to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the event with free food and children’s activities.

Home Source One, the parent company of Rockvale, will give away a SafeAssured ID kit for every child in attendance. Each kit contains a privacy-protected mini-CD with personal identification information vital in locating a lost child.

The data is encrypted and can be accessed only when a parent or guardian presents the CD to law enforcement.

Attendees will have the chance to talk to law enforcement agents about public safety. The purpose of the event is to heighten awareness of drug and crime prevention, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhoods and send a strong message to criminals.

For more information call the sheriff’s office at (608) 757-7941.

The National Night Out is arranged by the U.S. Department of Justice and any local or municipal law enforcement agency is encouraged to participate. They are normally all on the same night across the entire country; that's the point.
