Arrests

-- SARAH L. WERFAL, 28, 1720 Highland Ave., Janesville, at 12:55 p.m. Thursday on a charge of receiving stolen property.


-- SAMANTHA J. HUNT, 21, 317 N. Washington St. No. 3, Janesville, at 8:40 a.m. Thursday at West Holmes Street and Center Avenue on a bench warrant charging failure to appear in court on previous charges of possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and operating a drug house, a bench warrant charging failure to appear in court on a previous charge of criminal damage. Hunt also was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of heroine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.


-- EDWARD C. WEST, 39, of Minneapolis and EDWARD C. FLEMMING, 44, of Maywood, Ill., at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sears department store, 2500 Milton Ave., on a charge of retail theft of $1,086 in clothing.


-- FINIS R BEVINEAU, 20, of Rockford, Ill., at noon Thursday at Jakeís Mobil, 6501 S Highway 51, Janesville, on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.


Intoxicated driving arrests

-- MELVIN O. BUCHANAN, 35, 225 Milton Ave No. 1E, Janesville, at 12:26 a.m. Thursday at Milton Avenue and Hyatt Street. Also on a charge of disorderly conduct.


-- ORLANDO GARRIDO, 36, 405 Oakland Ave., Janesville, at 1:29 a.m. today on South Highway G, north of West B R Townline Road, in La Prairie Township. Garrido also was cited for open intoxicants and operating left of center.

-- STOLEN, a 1989 Black Honda Civic hatchback at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Kellogg Avenue, Janesville.


Accidents

-- INJURY ACCIDENT, at South Highway 14 and East Highway 11 at 3:52 p.m. Monday in La Prairie Township. Karin A. Havlik, 49, of Palmyra, apparently was driving south on Highway 14 and attempted to turn right onto Highway 11. After realizing Highway 11 was closed, she crossed the left lane to turn left on Highway 11, colliding with a vehicle driven by Sharon K. Kobasuk, 47, of Williams Bay, who was in the left lane, traveling south.


Fire

-- VEHICLE FIRE at 7:20 a.m. Thursday at BP Gas station, 1951 Center Ave., Janesville. The engine of a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, left idling, malfunctioned and started on fire. The vehicle, owned by Diane J. Olson and driven by Tara L. Nagel, both of Janesville, was valued at $1,500 and a total loss, according to the Janesville Fire Department.


-- DETACHED GARAGE FIRE at 4 a.m. today at 621 N. Oakhill Ave., Janesville. Although the fire started on an outside lower corner of the building, between the garage door and side entry door, itís cause remains unknown. Loss was estimated at $500, according to the Janesville Fire Department.


-- SEMI TRAILER TRUCK BRAKE AND TIRE FIRE at 6:36 a.m. today in the west bound lane of Interstate 90/39, at mile marker 175, just north of the Palmer Drive Bridge, Janesville. Shawn Schmaus of Riverside Construction, Missoula, Mont., was hauling an asphalt conveyor when the left rear tire and rear brakes locked up, overheated and caught on fire. Damage was estimated at $1,000, according to the Janesville Fire Department.

Intoxicated driving arrests

-- DANIEL B. AHLER, 46, 744 Henry St., Lake Geneva, on Saturday in Lake Geneva.


-- PEDRO MARTINEZ, 54, 193 W. Geneva St., Williams Bay, on Sunday in Lake Geneva. He also was cited for open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.


Reported

-- BURGLARY to Perkins Stadium at UW-Whitewater reported Thursday. Police saw three 17-year-old boys, one from Lake Geneva and two from Whitewater, running from the stadium about 4 a.m. The boys gained entry through the menís restroom door and tried to gain further entry through an interior door and ventilation shaft but were unsuccessful. Possible charges of burglary and criminal damage to property have been referred to the district attorney.
