The former Hardee’s on Court Street in Janesville will soon be demolished to make way for an O’Reilly Auto Parts store.

— The vacant Hardee’s store at 1930 W. Court St. will be demolished and an auto parts store built on the site.

City staff has been working with representatives from O’Reilly Auto Parts for about four months to redevelop the .72-acre site at the northeast corner of Court and Arch streets.

The store will be replaced with a 7,800-square-foot building.

O’Reilly Auto Parts has 1,830 locations in 26 states. The closest stores to Janesville are in Madison and Machesney Park.

The site and the Hardee’s building have been eyesores for some time, Brad Cantrell, community development director, said.

“We’re seeing some of this redevelopment, which are very good things for older development corridors.”

He pointed to the new Family Video and Walgreens stores on the south side to illustrate his point.

Now it's only a matter of which one of those two will be the most offended.

"Seed money"? I think you're confusing 'moon with "thekid."

I think if I shuffle and restructure my portfolio of debentures, stocks, bonds, and gold bullion I might be able to create a cash flow that could amount to a sizable percentage of the seed money required to get this thing off the ground.

Have Ms B'moon contact me by way of GazetteXtra's email service.

I heard B'moon was in negotiations with corporate to bring White Castle to that very site. The hold-up seems to be lack of local investors. Any takers?

It is about time they do something with that place! But how many more auto parts stores does Janesville need?

I was hoping for a Beef-A-Roo comeback.
