Parker falls short in Big Eight tennis

— Janesville Parker was in contention in every match but loss 6-1 to Beloit Memorial in Big Eight Conference boys tennis dual here Wednesday.

Nick Gilbank carried the day for the Vikings, defeating Michael Weiss, 6-2, 6-3, for his first victory at No. 1 singles.

“Gilbank played extremely well,” said Parker coach Mike Fuhrmann, whose team fell to 0-2 in in the Big Eight. “I was proud of the way he battled every hit.’’

Parker hosts Middleton at 4:15 p.m. today at Palmer Park.

Doubles—Troy Fiorucci-James Fiorucci (B) def. Matt Knutson-Ethan Zillmer, 6-4, 6-4. Daniel Segal-T.J. Kodras (B) def. John Zillmer-Kyle Walker, 6-4, 6-1. Johnnie Hart-Nick Steinke (BM) def. Ken Konkol-Jake Lewis, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
