— Janesville Craig suffered its first loss in Big Eight Conference boys golf Wednesday at Blackhawk Country Club.

Craig High fell 313-325 to Madison Memorial, but defeated Madison West (335) by 10 strokes to split the double dual. That left the Cougars at 3-1 in the Big Eight.

“Madison Memorial is probably one of the better teams around,” Craig coach Mike Wesling said. “West is the same as us. We were hoping to come out with one victory, and if we really shot well, we’d have a shot at Memorial.”

Charlie Roherty carded a 78 to lead Craig. Stephen Lange and Sean Regan each carded a 77 for the Spartans.

The Cougars are scheduled to play in the Monona Grove Invitational today.
