— The University of Wisconsin System announced Monday five finalists for the chancellor position at UW-Whitewater.

The finalists are:

-- Kenneth W. Borland, interim president of East Stroudsburg (Penn.) University;

-- John W. Folkins, chief executive officer of Bowling Green (Ohio) State University Research Institute;

-- Alfred J. Guillaume Jr., vice chancellor of academic affairs at Indiana University South Bend;

-- Nancy Kleniewski, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Bridgewater (Mass.) State College;

-- Richard Telfer, interim chancellor of UW-Whitewater.

A 22-member search committee, led by UW-Whitewater professor Jimmy Peltier, recommended the finalists to UW System President Kevin Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents.

The finalists will participate in public forums Thursday-Wednesday, April 24-30, on the UW-Whitewater campus. UW System President Kevin Reilly and the special committee will interview the finalists Wednesday, May 7, in Madison.

The person selected will become UW-Whitewater’s 15th chancellor, succeeding Martha Saunders, the university’s first woman chancellor, who left last spring to become president of the University of Southern Mississippi. She had served as chancellor of UW-Whitewater since August 2005.
