— One person is dead after a single-car accident on Saturday night.

Michael Hefty, 29, Arena, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rock County Coroner’s Office.

Hefty was driving a Honda Civic east on West East Union Road west of Murray Road in Union Township at about 9:42 p.m., according to a Rock County Sheriff’s Department news release.

He failed to negotiate a curve, tried to correct, but instead slid off the south side of the road and overturned. Hefty was partially ejected and pinned.

A passenger in the car, John Jabs, 23, Mount Horeb, was uninjured.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s department.
