— Another woman has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge of prostitution through sexual contact in the ongoing investigation of activity at Janesville’s only strip club.

Tiffany H. Michaels, 22, of 2025 W. Wall St., No. 12, Janesville, was arrested Monday at the Rock County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant charging misdemeanor prostitution in the investigation of Screamin’ MeeMees, 402 W. Delavan Drive, that started last summer.

Michaels’ arrest brings to 17 the number of people who have been charged with misdemeanor prostitution. Most of those charged were dancers. Three men were clients, according to criminal complaints filed.

Some of the charges cite sexual activity—such as masturbation and oral sex or the offer of oral sex—for money. Most of the charges cite sexual contact for money: the rubbing or touching of breasts, buttocks or genitalia against another person.

it seems to me that we had a situation almost the sam at a business on milton ave. a few years back, back rubs, frontrubs, all over body rubs for lots of money, those names and pictures were left out of the paper because some of the people who went their were supposedly some well known shouldnt have been their professionals from our fine city, fun how things are different when its just us normal people.

Scott, what you and the Gazette are doing posting pictures is wrong, period. You are posting/pictures of non-convicted citizens. This ruins lives. I know several people whose lives have been changed significantly due to this practice. An apology or reprint in the back of the paper doesn’t fix that. The Gazette is showing that it will do anything to sell a couple more papers. Subscribers still falling off, huh? I am sure Jerry Springer could give you some advice on your next scheme to sell more papers, maybe sneak around taking pictures of local business people doing things that might embarrass them. This all reminds me of a witch hunt. I hope you all sleep well knowing you have ruined lives of people who you report to all in the name of making more money. Wait, it is a good thing being a media whore is legal or your pictures would not be on top of the articles, but rather in the middle. I am calling to drop my subscription today.
The JPD is showing their true colors of embarrassment arresting anyone for a “lap dance.” This is all just wrong and a serious waste of time and money.

I can't wait until Pacman Jones is arrested at Screamin' MeeMees ... imagine the hub-bub that would cause!

Zoom, I have never seen a direct connection between strip clubs/prostitution and drugs and violence. Just because there are women taking their clothes off for money (or more) somewhere does not mean there will be drugs and violence, and vice versa. All I'm saying is that it seems lately the number of drunk driving accidents has gone up, the number of gang related incidents have gone up, and we've got cops, although acting on information, worrying about naked women grinding on lonely guys. If there wer drugs involved, fine, but otherwise I don't think this is a huge priority. I'd rather know that if some tool heads from a bar plastered out of his/her mind, he/she will get arrested, rather than know some lonely guy has been spared a cheap feel.
*
I don't go to strip clubs, but if that's what somebody wants to do, who am I to stop them? There are too many people in this world worrying about what everyone else is doing.

The addresses of people arrested on charges of drunken driving are included in the Public Record in the newspaper and on the Web site.

Three men have been arrested in connection with this case. We have used all of their addresses, and we have used their photos when police could provide them. That's the same as for the women.

i think that this city really needs to focus on other crimes that are taking place rather than wasting time arresting people for something like this, only because they really just don't like the idea of janesville having a bar like this in its city. not to mention this poor girl is going to face charges like this for the rest of her life for doing something like that she choose to do,wheather its right or wrong, the city/government or anybody else should decide what one can and can't do with themself, even if they made money. who really should have that right besides the one doing it. thats where GOD comes into the picture, he is the ONLY one who decides, not some city officials or person with authority should have.

Why not do what Nevada does, tax them and give them a medical check every so often? At least you'd solve three problems; (1) taking care of some needs not covered at home, (2) putting cash in the state's coffers, and (3) not forcing the public have to read this dribble.

I was given to understand that these girls were to be the tip of the iceberg and that there would be many more arrests. I wonder how much longer we must wait or are these girls it?
Come on Janesville..Is that all you got?

I remember reading in one of these stories that the MEM were undercover officers...that may be the reason why there are no pictures of them. This is a little off the topic...but does anyone eles think that it's a little weird that the city DOESN'T want to renew a liquor license for Querans(sic) because the owner has anger issues'???? If that is the case maybe they shouldn't renew the license of bar owners that have drunk driving/drug issues! Does anyone know more about this??

may I suggest that from now on, should there be more arrests in this area of criminal behavior that you NOT publish the photos. I realize it wouldn't be "fair" to the people already publicly humiliated; however, it's never too late to do the next right thing. In other words, I think that the Gazette DID make an error in publishing the women's photos along with their addresses again. (They are already in the public record account.)

Again, I'm more than a little frustrated that the guys photos were not published for public humiliation. I can accept the logic that there wasn't a booking photo, but I am sure that there are photos of the guys charged SOMEWHERE. (perhaps another criminal charge from another crime committed?)

There is no reason to put the women in even GREATER danger of physical harm.

Im not from wi; I am am an outsider looking in; however I do have an opinion. it seems to me, in todays society your guilty until until proven innocent contrary to what the constitution says. WHICH IS THE REAL TRAVESTY! These girls are in a rough situation, I feel for them. They dont deserve their pics in the paper, what crap, but thats our society for ya, instead of helping someone up when they are down, they give another kick. in this self absorbed world I am sorry to say I am not surprised. I have been following this story and if any of the girls are out there reading along, I really wish you all the best in all your endeavors! I'm sorry you have to go thru this and my prayers are with you all! Keep in mind all news dies at sometime and you do have people behind you, rooting for you all (The obvious underdogs of the whole situation)!

So when will the city close down the place of business? Come on what is going to happen when you allow girls serving non-alcholic drinks in their birthday suits to guy's that if they really wanted a pop could stop at Kwik-Trip or McDonalds... There going there for more than what meets the eye...wink wink

Here we go again! Thank god the Janesville Police are keeping us all safe from these criminals. As for the Janesville Gazette, if you insist on posting the mug shots and personal information of these people caught in this witch hunt, I insist that you post photos, names, and addresses of all people charged with a misdemeanor in Janesville.

this is getting ridiculous, these women are not dangerous, the only danger they seem to present, is to themselves and their clientel. but im sure everyone in this girls apartment building will now harass her, she will probably get evicted, and, you have scott angus to thank for that. what she is being accused of is not right, but i guess she will be severely punished for this by society.

At the risk of having my comment removed because of the "ism" here, I thought I would post this as sort of reminder that, if not for men's need to view us, women would more than likely not take their clothes off in a public forum...

Gambling Blonde

A very attractive blonde woman from southern Alabama arrived and bet twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) on a single roll of the dice. She said, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I play topless."

With that, she stripped to the waist; rolled the dice; and yelled, "Come on, baby .... Southern Girl needs new clothes!"

As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up-and-down...and squealed... "YES! YES! I WON! I WON!" She hugged each of the dealers...and then picked up her winnings and her clothes, and quickly departed.

The dealers stared at each other dumbfounded. Finally, one of them asked, "What did she roll?"

The other answered, "I don't know ... I thought you were watching."

Moral -
Not all Southerners are stupid.

Not all blondes are dumb.

But all men.......are men.

jviers77,
The police were not "out looking". They were presented with evidence of prostitution, and are taking action. With prostitution comes drugs and violence, just the things you want the police to take care of. I am happy the police are not ignoring the situation. Should the police wait until it gets completely out of hand? I would rather Janesville had a reputation of being tough on prostitution.

I, for one, would like to praise the Gazette staff for their tough pursuit of bringing down the most dangerous criminals within the Janesville area. By publishing the photos of these horrible people I am better able to go about my day keeping an eye out for those I now recognize from the many photos the Gazette puts up relating to this case. For all those who worry about the drugs and the gang problems and the numerous drunks driving around our streets...it's time you understand that women in a strip club who take off their clothes to make money and give lap dances (and sometimes more) are the dangerous criminals that we ALL need to worry about. Thanks Gazette. Keep up the unbiased journalism!!!

And you don't think she puts herself at risk by working in a strip club. No, she was perfectly safe until Scott Angus published her picture and the details of her arrest. Now she's likely to be suffer great harm before this can be resolved. Unbelievable

as with the other dancers arrested, the men's photos are noticeably absent. it is sort of off topic, but here is a link to view and seriously consider regarding male privilege.

No kidding ! prostitution is the oldest business for a reason, there are plenty of clients. the only crime i can see here is not paying taxes on that money. people need to get over their morals and leave 2 consenting adults alone. i am married and i could care less. if your husband is doing this you need a divorce not an arrest.

I'm not condoning what happened at these clubs, but aren't there more important things for authorities to be worrying about? Gang violence is getting worse, drug use seems to be on the rise again, drunk driving is out or control, but we've got our officers out looking for women rubbing their naughty bits on guys for money. I know it's illegal, but who's getting hurt? Maybe the marriages of the men paying for it, but that's their choice if they want to screw up their marriage. Nobody is dying or being shot at.
