— Janesville Parker High School backed sophomore pitcher Tyler Teubert’s solid five-hit outing with good defense en route to a 6-2 victory over host Beloit Memorial in Big Eight Conference baseball here Tuesday.

“The big thing is we played good defense,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “That’s been our problem in the three games we lost, we have made too many errors.’’

Parker (2-2, 2-3), which has been averaging three errors per game, committed only one error against the Purple Knights.

“In high school, if pitchers throw strikes and the team plays good defense behind him, then you should have a pretty good chance to win some games,” Martin said.

While Teubert notched six strikeouts and walked three en route to his first varsity victory, the Vikings scored five runs on four hits in the fifth inning to seal the victory.

Brodie Meehan stroked a bases-loaded two-out single to clear the bases for Parker’s big hit of the inning. Matt Beyer delivered an RBI double and Ian Larson singled home Beyer for the final run of the inning.

The Vikings will play Madison West on Tuesday.
