— Ben Yaucher drove in two runs and scored another as Janesville Craig’s baseball team got its first win of the year, beating Waunakee, 5-0, Friday in a makeup game at Riverside Park.

The Cougars (1-2) got all the runs they needed on a J.R. Negus’ RBI groundout in the second inning. Craig added two runs in the fifth on an RBI squeeze bunt by Kaleb Eichman and Dylan Grall’s run-scoring double. Yaucher added to the Craig lead with his two-out, bases-loaded single in the sixth inning.

“That was a big clutch hit for us right there,” Craig coach Vic Herbst said. “We played a solid game. It shows on the scoreboard. We got the win.”

Craig’s solid play included five shutout innings by junor Ben Olin, pitching in his first-ever varsity game. Olin allowed just three hits.

“Ben had a great outing,” Herbst said. “He made them put the ball in play.”

The Cougars will be back in action Monday when they face city rival Parker at Riverside Park.
