— The city will hop back into record books if a couple thousand people don their bunny ears Saturday, April 19, to win back the coveted Guinness World Record for the biggest bunny hop.

Lake Geneva lost the record—by a whisker—to Monroe, Wash., where 1,886 fair-goers hopped at the Evergreen State Fair in August 2007. Lake Geneva previously held the record, set by 1,879 bunny hoppers in April 2006.

Locals will descend on Library Park on Saturday, April 19, to attempt to win back the record, defined by the number of people dancing in line. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon.

The first 200 families to register for the record-setting event, called “Some Bunnies Going Green” in honor of Earth Day, will each receive a seedling. The event also features recycling discussions, a petting zoo and open houses at downtown businesses.
