Binnie wins Whitewater council seat
Lynn Binnie handily defeated Jim Fischer, who withdrew from the race Jan. 28 because he would be unable to fulfill his duties as a councilmember if elected.
“Frankly, I’m still a little puzzled that 111 people didn’t get the news that Jim Fischer was not able to serve,” Binnie said. “But aside from that, I’m gratified … and I look forward to serving.”
Binnie said the city council’s top priority is going to be economic development of the city. He said there are studies being conducted about the proposed industrial park as well as retail development downtown that the city will need to examine.
He said housing will also be of concern as the city looks at ways to better enforce its housing codes.
