— The Janesville School District checked and locked the roof hatches at all its schools after a recent burglary, according to a memo from Student Services Director Karen Schulte.

“Door security systems are being rechecked, and a fob system is being explored,” Schulte wrote. Schulte apparently was referring to a system in which staff members carry small devices that can unlock doors electronically.

Three 14-year-old boys were referred to juvenile authorities Oct. 9 on charges of burglary and theft in connection with a burglary over the previous weekend to Lincoln Elementary School, 1821 W. Conde St.

Several electronic devices valued at $760 were reported stolen, and an estimated $90 damage was done.
