— The defensive-minded Kenosha Tremper Trojans topped Lake Geneva Badger, 2-1, in double overtime to win a WIAA Division 1 sectional final at Ameche Field.

Adam Powell’s goal put Tremper in the WIAA state tournament for the first time since 2003 after Tremper appeared destined for its third straight shootout.

But that changed suddenly when Eric O’Connell gained possession of the ball in Badger’s end and played it into the box. The ball found its way to Powell, who ripped a left-footed rocket to the left of helpless Badger goalie Jordan Christner.

Tremper (18-3-6) jumped to a 1-0 lead early in the first half when sophomore Jesus Oseguera chipped a shot into the net.

Badger tied it in the 54th minute when Frank Delgado ripped a long, left-footed shot that barely eluded Tremper goalie Marcos Perez .
