— City retailers have planned a weekend-long celebration of the holiday season featuring a variety of activities.

Taste of the Holidays, taking place Friday, Nov. 2, through Sunday, Nov. 4, at various retailers, offers shoppers and visitors a primer of holiday happenings. Activities include a holiday cookie competition, martini-making lessons and a special raclette cooking demonstration by author Connie Fairbanks.

On Friday, The Cove of Lake Geneva will host “Martini meets Swing,”which features a tribute to Neil Diamond along with Jim Best’s Las Vegas revue. A clinic will also demonstrate how to make the perfect martini.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, at The Cornerstone Shoppe, Fairbanks, author of “Scratch That,”will present a session on hosting a raclette cooking party. Raclette, a French word meaning “to scrape,” refers both the famous cheese from Switzerland as well as a dish that consists of melted cheeses served with vegetables, meats and other toppings. Raclette can be a communal dining experience similar to fondue.
